All of Stakmore's chairs and tables are constructed of solid hardwood that has been dried to the proper moisture content for the North American climate. Why should you care about that? Wood used in furniture that has not been dried properly will give off moisture over time, shrinking, creating gaps in joints, cracking and splitting.
After drying, machining and assembling furniture the most visible part of furniture and the critical point that differentiates most furniture in the customers mind is the finish. Stakmore utilizes a multi-step stain, sealer and topcoat process to provide a rich durable finish on all products.
Stakmore takes great pride in being an environmentally friendly company and has been one for decades. For over 30 years Stakmore has utilized all scrap wood waste and sawdust as fuel to heat their factory and dry the lumber used. In addition Stakmore helps area cabinet shops avoid adding to the landfill by taking their excess wood waste, grinding it up and burning it for fuel. By utilizing 100% of the lumber purchased they reduce their need for fossil fuels.
Even the purchase of lumber takes into consideration renewability. All lumber used comes from managed, sustainable forests. Following managed forestry practices ensures that future generations will have forests and that animals will still have homes.

I love these chairs. They are a very high quality product. I am very impressed. Some have said that they are hard to unfold, but if you follow the directions located on the underneath of the chairs, they are easy to unfold. They do not look like a folding chair at all. Instead, they look like a permenant piece of furniture! I would definately buy again. Infact I bought four of them. Very pleased!

I like the look of the chairs. I bought them to replace my dining room chairs ( I keep four out and two folded). They are a little hard to open, but not impossible. Unfortunately, I don't like how the folding mechanism is attached. It popped out when someone turned on the chair (I was lucky she didn't fall on the floor) and although you can pop it back in, there is no way to secure it so it doesn't keep popping out. Had to throw the chair out.
BOTTOM LINE No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I was highly disappointed that Dining Rms direct would not stand behind this product, which broke the first time it was used. The "customer service" email I received cited the 30 day return policy. I could understand that if I decided I didn't like it, but it BROKE the first time it was used. The email went on to incorrectly refer to the product as a clock instead of a chair, and told me to contact the manufacturer for possible warranty coverage. I did that, but they haven't replied to my inquiry. So much for "100% satisfaction guaranteed." This will be the last time I shop Dining Rooms Direct.

These chairs are beautiful, solid, and foldable. I can't have 10 chairs sitting around the house, but I need to have chairs for company, and these chairs fit in my closet (all 4 of them).
